About Tansania
Tansania ist ein Staat in Ostafrika. Er liegt am Indischen Ozean und grenzt an Kenia und Uganda im Norden, Ruanda, Burundi und die DR Kongo im Westen und Sambia, Malawi und Mosambik im Süden. Tansania hat etwa die zweieinhalbfache Fläche Deutschlands. Es ist mit rund 62 Millionen Einwohnern das nach Bevölkerung fünftgrößte Land Afrikas. Hauptstadt des Staates ist Dodoma, die größte Stadt ist jedoch die Küstenstadt Daressalam; weitere große Städte sind Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya, Morogoro und Tanga. In Tansania werden etwa 125 Sprachen gesprochen, größtenteils Bantusprachen, aber auch nilotische und kuschitische Sprachen, Arabisch sowie indische Sprachen; Verkehrssprachen sind hingegen Swahili (Suaheli) und Englisch. Die meisten Tansanier sind entweder Christen oder Muslime.
