About Poreč

Poreč [ˈpɔrɛtʃ] (kroatisch) oder Parenzo (italienisch), historisch lateinisch Parens oder Parentium, historisch deutsch Parenz, ist eine der bedeutendsten Städte an der Westküste der Halbinsel Istrien in Kroatien, neben Rovinj (Rovigno) und dem urbanen Zentrum Pula (Pola). Die Stadt hat 16.607 Einwohner. Das bedeutendste Architekturzeugnis in Poreč ist der Kathedralbezirk mit der Euphrasius-Basilika, der in das UNESCO-Welterbe aufgenommen wurde. Die Stadt ist Sitz der katholischen Diözese Poreč-Pula.
