About Rhodos
Rhodos ist mit rund 1401 Quadratkilometern nach Fläche die viertgrößte, nach Einwohnerzahl aber die drittgrößte Insel Griechenlands und die Hauptinsel der griechischen Inselgruppe Dodekanes in der Südost-Ägäis. Nach der Volkszählung von 2011 hatte die Insel 115.490 Einwohner. Davon lebt fast die Hälfte in der Stadt Rhodos, dem Hauptort und touristischen Zentrum im Norden. Die Einwohner heißen Rhodier. Das Wappentier von Rhodos ist der springende Hirsch, gr. έλαφος (Elafos).
