Korfu ist mit einer Fläche von rund 585 Quadratkilometern die zweitgrößte der Ionischen Inseln und die siebtgrößte Griechenlands. Sie liegt, getrennt durch die Straße von Korfu, vor der bis zwei Kilometer nahen albanischen Küste. Die Apenninhalbinsel im Westen ist knapp hundert Kilometer entfernt.
